1. Information Needle processes
Needle does not require a traditional user account for the core experience. The app creates an anonymous installation identifier used to manage free usage, subscription access and purchase restoration. This identifier is not intended to identify you by name.
When you paste or share a public social-video URL, Needle processes that URL and may process publicly available source information such as video or audio, titles, descriptions, captions, transcripts, comments and related metadata when available. Public media may be temporarily downloaded or materialized so that recognition can be performed.
Needle may also process technical and operational information such as request identifiers, usage counts, error information and service diagnostics needed to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service.
Recent Drops and related result history are stored locally on your device by the app. Subscription and purchase information is handled through Apple and RevenueCat.
2. How information is used
- to retrieve and analyse public social-video content you submit;
- to identify music candidates and verify track or album metadata;
- to create and maintain the app's Recent Drops experience;
- to enforce free-use limits and recognise active Needle Pro access;
- to process purchases and restore subscriptions;
- to operate, secure, diagnose and improve service reliability;
- to perform playlist handoff where that feature is available.
3. Service providers
Needle relies on third-party services to provide the product. These may include Apple for App Store billing, RevenueCat for subscription management, Google Gemini for media/content recognition, Spotify for catalog verification and playlist-related functionality, Railway for backend hosting, and ScrapeCreators as a fallback provider for public Instagram Reel retrieval when the primary retrieval method fails.
These providers may process the information necessary to perform their part of the service under their own terms and privacy practices. Needle does not sell your personal information.
4. Public social content
Needle is designed for public social-video URLs. Do not submit private links, account credentials or content that you are not authorised to access or process. Needle does not ask for your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube password.
5. Retention
Source media may be processed transiently as part of retrieval and recognition. Needle does not use submitted public videos as a user media library. Backend usage records, subscription status checks, security records and diagnostics may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems or comply with legal obligations.
Recent Drops stored locally remain on your device until removed by the app, app data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled, subject to operating-system behaviour.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing of personal information. You can also manage or cancel an Apple subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings.
7. Children
Needle is not directed to children under the age required to consent to online services in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact support.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Needle or its service providers change. The current version and update date will be published at this URL.
